Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has been linked with a potential move to Spanish giants Real Madrid following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to reports.
It is claimed that Chelsea FC have reached a verbal agreement with the La Liga side over a possible transfer for the Spanish left-back, although no deal has yet been officially confirmed.
Earlier reporting indicated that Chelsea were not actively seeking to sell Cucurella, but the club were understood to be open to negotiations if an acceptable offer arrived and the player expressed a desire to leave.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022 and has remained part of the club’s defensive rotation, though his long-term future at Stamford Bridge has periodically been the subject of speculation.
The potential move is also being linked to a managerial change in Madrid, with reports suggesting that José Mourinho could be preparing to oversee a squad rebuild following his reported appointment as Real Madrid manager for a second spell.
Cucurella is now said to be among the players considered for early signings under Mourinho’s leadership, as the Spanish club looks to strengthen ahead of the new season.
At this stage, neither Chelsea nor Real Madrid have publicly confirmed any agreement, and the situation is expected to develop after the conclusion of the World Cup.
