The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has directed all its branches across Nigeria to suspend vigils and overnight church programmes indefinitely due to growing security concerns across the country.
The decision was communicated in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the church’s Director of Administration, Temitope A. Olawale, at the ministry’s international headquarters in Lagos.
According to the directive, all church services, meetings, and related activities must now end on or before 8:00 pm. The church said the measure was introduced as part of efforts to protect members and workers in view of the security challenges affecting different parts of the country.
MFM stated that overnight prayer sessions and vigils have been suspended until further notice. However, branches that consider such programmes necessary have been advised to convert them into evening gatherings, provided they conclude by 8:00 pm.
The ministry explained that the new guidelines are preventive steps aimed at ensuring the safety of worshippers. It noted that compliance with the directive is mandatory for all ministers, departments, groups, and branches nationwide.
The notice was circulated to Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, zonal pastors, and branch pastors, with instructions for immediate implementation.
The development comes at a time when concerns over insecurity continue to rise in several parts of Nigeria. Communities in different regions have faced challenges ranging from kidnappings and bandit attacks to violent assaults on rural settlements, prompting institutions and organizations to adopt additional safety measures..
