News PlatformNG reports that the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has arrested a woman in connection with the alleged assault of her 8-year-old son in the Alakuko area of Lagos State on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
According to preliminary findings, the child sustained physical injuries and was rescued by concerned community members, who immediately ensured he received urgent medical attention. Authorities allege that the child’s biological mother used a blade to inflict harm on the minor, reportedly over accusations that he had taken money from her. She was later apprehended, and investigations as well as legal proceedings were initiated.
The case was charged to court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, and heard before a Magistrate Court in Lagos State. Following the hearing, the court ordered that the child and his sibling be placed under protective care in an approved child protection facility to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
The defendant was granted bail under specified conditions, while the matter has been adjourned to 23 July 2026 for further hearing.
Authorities say the case remains under active review as child protection agencies continue to monitor the welfare of the minors involved.
