Alexx Ekubo's Mom Says She Still Misses His Calls After His Death.

The mother of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, Evangelist Mrs Jane Mmerechi Ekubo-Okwaraeke, has shared her deep pain following the death of her son, saying she still longs for the calls, messages, advice and prayers they once shared.

Her emotional tribute was published in the funeral booklet distributed during the actor’s burial ceremony in Arochukwu, Abia State, which took place on June 17 and 18.

Alex Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

His death shocked fans, colleagues and loved ones across the entertainment industry.

In the tribute, his mother described him as a source of joy and pride throughout his life.

She said she deeply misses their conversations, his care, encouragement and the moments they spent praying and worshipping together.

She recalled that her son stood out because of his character and the way he approached life.

According to her, he was a special gift whose presence brought happiness, laughter and pride to family members and everyone around him.

The grieving mother admitted that losing him has left a wound that is difficult to heal.

However, she said she remains grateful for the memories they created together and the positive influence he had on many lives.

She also reflected on his strong Christian faith, stating that he dedicated his life to serving God, helping people and spreading the gospel.

She remembered a conversation in which Alex told her that introducing him to Jesus was the greatest gift she had ever given him.

Mrs Ekubo-Okwaraeke said her son often encouraged her whenever she faced difficult moments.

She remembered how he would comfort her with words of faith and strength, urging her to remain courageous and trust God regardless of the situation.

Describing him as humble, kind and generous, she said the many tributes that have poured in since his passing have brought comfort to the family.

She noted that although his life was cut short, he left behind a legacy that continues to touch many people.

She also expressed appreciation to his wife, Anwuli, for the support and care she gave him throughout his life and during his final days.

Ending the tribute on a hopeful note, the bereaved mother said she believes they will meet again one day.

She prayed for his soul to rest in peace and said his memory would remain forever in her heart.

The late actor, who was also a former Mr Nigeria runner-up, was buried in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State. He is survived by his wife, mother and other family members.
