Mr Ibu’s Family Appeals For Help.

The family of late Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to Nigerians for financial support as they battle growing economic challenges more than two years after his death.

The appeal was made during an interview with content creator King Mitchy, where the actor’s widow and children opened up about the difficulties they have been facing.

According to Mr Ibu’s widow, the family is struggling to meet basic needs, including paying rent, settling electricity bills and covering the children’s school fees.

She revealed that their electricity supply has been disconnected for about two months because of unpaid bills, forcing them to look for places outside their home to charge their phones.

She also disclosed that the family now depends on water from a well due to their financial situation and inability to meet household expenses.

One of the actor’s daughters praised her mother for her efforts in keeping the family together despite the hardship.

She said their mother has continued to work hard to provide food and meet their needs even as the family faces difficult times.

The widow further explained that the situation has begun to affect her children’s education. She said some of them risk being unable to continue their studies because outstanding school fees remain unpaid.

According to her, the school recently sent a message concerning the unpaid fees.

The interviewer's team said support is being sought from well-meaning Nigerians to help the family settle rent, pay school fees and restore electricity to their home.

Mr Ibu was one of Nigeria’s most recognised comic actors and entertained audiences for decades through his roles in numerous films.

He died on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62, leaving behind his wife, children and a legacy in the Nigerian movie industry.
