2017:When Osinbajo Wanted To Meet Militants Buhari Told Him "You'll Be The First Kidnapped VP"— Ojudu
Babafemi Ojudu, former Special Adviser to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has stated that Osinbajo traveled to the Niger Delta in 2017 to meet with militant leaders and convince them to stop vandalizing oil pipelines
In an interview with Channels Television, Ojudu said before Osinbajo embarked on the journey Buhari was concerned about his safety. He said Buhari told Osinbajo that he could become the first Vice President in Nigeria’s history to be kidnapped
Ojudu stated that he and Osinbajo traveled by helicopter to Gbaramatu, Delta State where the meeting with the militant leaders was scheduled to take place. He said the militant leaders welcomed them and even gave them gifts
In Ojudu's words: "I remember even the president himself was shocked when Osinbajo offered to go and he said, 'If you go you will be the first Vice President in history to be kidnapped'"
