Police Officer Arrested After Alleged Online Threat Toward Donald Trump.

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer has been arrested after allegedly posting a video online in which he made threatening comments toward U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a statement, the RCMP Federal Policing Eastern Region confirmed that 34-year-old Evenson Dumerlus of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, was taken into custody following the incident, which is said to have involved a video posted on his Snapchat account.

Authorities allege the video was recorded while the officer was deployed on G7 security operations last summer. Trump attended the G7 Summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to 17, 2025.

According to the RCMP, the matter was initially brought to light after another officer reported the video. The investigation was subsequently taken over by the Special Investigations Unit, which reviewed the evidence and moved quickly to respond. Dumerlus was removed from duty on the same day the incident was flagged.

He has been charged with uttering threats and is scheduled to appear in court on July 30 at the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse.

“The RCMP takes seriously any threats that can affect one’s sense of security,” the force said in its statement. “Violent statements will not be tolerated.”

The RCMP also encouraged members of the public to report similar incidents to law enforcement.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service confirmed awareness of the alleged social media post, telling CBC that, “out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
