British-Nigerian singer-songwriter and acclaimed music producer Talay Riley has died at the age of 35 following a fatal stabbing in East London.
Riley, whose real name was Yinka Mark Orabiyi, was pronounced dead on June 5, 2026, after suffering multiple stab wounds during an incident that has shocked both the music industry and fans worldwide.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a stabbing on Pankhurst Avenue in East London on Friday morning. Emergency services later discovered Riley in the garden of a property on Rayleigh Road with multiple stab injuries.
Paramedics and first responders worked extensively to save his life, but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man in his 20s was also found with multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Three individuals were arrested in connection with the incident, including two men aged 27 and 24, and a 25-year-old woman, all on suspicion of murder.
Police later confirmed that the 24-year-old man and the woman were released with no further action. The 27-year-old suspect has been released on bail while investigations continue.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command have launched a murder investigation and are appealing to members of the public who may have information about the incident to come forward.

“I never thought the day would come where I’d be writing this, but unfortunately I can confirm that on the morning of Friday, June 5, my big brother Yinka (Talay Riley) passed away,” he wrote.
“My heart is shattered. This doesn’t feel real. Just before he went to sleep, we spoke about the future, staying positive, and everything we still had left to do. I never imagined that would be our last conversation.”
Describing his brother as a mentor, inspiration, and guiding light, Scribz Riley said he had been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and tributes received since the tragedy.
Tributes quickly poured in from artists, collaborators, and industry figures who worked closely with Riley throughout his career.
Rapper and singer Stormzy expressed his condolences, while Craig David shared a message of support for Riley's family, remembering the songwriter’s positive energy and lasting influence.

Meanwhile, California-based record label Position Music paid tribute to Riley's extraordinary contribution to music.
