Popular TikTok personality Fati Cele has been detained by the Kano State Police Command following the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence in Kano.
According to a report by Punch, the police confirmed that the social media personality is currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A source familiar with the matter alleged that Cele raised an alarm over a fire outbreak at her residence, prompting emergency efforts to save Makaye. He was reportedly rushed to a hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, said Fati Cele is being held while detectives investigate the case. However, he declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of Makaye’s death had not been officially disclosed by the authorities.
Makaye, a Kano-based cosmetics trader, has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The police have yet to announce whether any charges will be filed as investigations into the incident continue.
