The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially cleared former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, to contest as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
The decision followed the completion of the review process conducted by the party’s Primaries Appeal Committee.
After examining the outcome of the recently concluded party primaries, the committee submitted its report to the National Working Committee (NWC), which approved the findings and confirmed Duke’s candidature.
The party also approved the outcomes of other primary elections conducted for various positions. These include governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly contests held across different parts of the country.
According to the PRP, most of the candidates who emerged from the primaries were successfully cleared to participate in the 2027 elections.
However, the primary election conducted for the Tarauni Federal Constituency in Kano State was nullified and will not stand.
The party disclosed that it plans to field a total of 420 candidates for different elective positions nationwide during the general elections.
The figure covers candidates seeking offices at both the national and state levels.
PRP said the large number of candidates reflects its determination to remain actively involved in the electoral process and expand its presence across the country ahead of the polls.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and due process, stating that the review of the primaries was carried out to ensure fairness and compliance with its rules.
With the clearance process now completed, the party is expected to begin preparations for the next stage of its campaign activities as it positions itself for the 2027 elections.
