Nigerian singer Brymo has revisited his long-standing dispute with former record label Chocolate City, insisting the fallout was rooted in business disagreements rather than personal conflict.
Speaking in a recent interview on Yanga FM, Brymo rejected the idea of any “beef” between him and the label, saying the relationship deteriorated due to contractual and financial issues that eventually escalated into a court dispute.
According to the singer, the turning point came when he decided to take greater control of his career and financial future.
“I was becoming a man. I was already 29 years old when it all started. I needed to make a living,” he said during the interview.
Brymo alleged that Chocolate City did not meet certain obligations outlined in his contract. He claimed he was left to source producers himself and personally finance the recording of his debut album after the label allegedly failed to provide the expected support.
He further stated that despite the commercial performance of his 2012 album Son of a Kapenta, he has not received royalties from the project.
“They still have the album to this day. I’ve not made anything from it. Nothing,” he alleged.
