Stop Fabricating Lies, I Never Begged You For A Photo - Italian Prime Minister Blasts Trump.

"News PlatformNG" reports that Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has strongly denied comments made by US President Donald Trump, who claimed she “begged” him for a photograph during the recent G7 summit held in Évian, France, describing the remarks as entirely false and damaging to relations between allied nations.

The controversy began after Trump, speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster La7, alleged that Meloni was eager to be photographed with him at the summit. He claimed she was so insistent that she “begged” for the picture, adding that he would have declined but “felt sorry for her.”

Meloni quickly responded in a public video message shared on social media, firmly rejecting the accusation and expressing disappointment. “There is one thing he should remember: neither I nor Italy ever beg,” she said, calling Trump’s version of events “totally invented.”

She further criticised the US president’s conduct, questioning his approach to international relations and suggesting inconsistency in how he treats allies compared to adversaries. “Frankly, I am stunned. I don’t know why the US president behaves this way towards his allies,” she added.

The exchange has triggered political reactions in Italy. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned Trump’s remarks as offensive to both Meloni and the Italian state, later announcing the cancellation of a planned visit to the United States. Former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also criticised the comments, saying Italy had been “blatantly humiliated.”

Senior officials within Meloni’s government warned that the dispute could strain long-standing transatlantic relations, with one aide arguing that the rhetoric risks undermining both European and US interests at a sensitive geopolitical moment.
