The FCT Police Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi has said that suspects held in custody are kept in comfortable conditions and are not treated harshly.
He explained in a video message that some of the detention cells are equipped with air conditioners and television sets. He noted that this allows suspects to stay in a better environment while in custody.
He added that those described as “TikToking bandits” are also able to watch television, including Premier League football matches, news, and other programmes while they are being held.
The police commissioner said the facilities were designed to ensure decent treatment of suspects and insisted that they are not subjected to inhumane conditions.
He also stated that the police remain committed to tracking down and arresting individuals involved in criminal activities, especially those who use social media to promote crime or cause fear among the public.
He warned that security operations against such suspects will continue, adding that the police will pursue and arrest offenders wherever they are found.
The statement has continued to generate public attention as security agencies intensify operations against armed groups and suspected criminals across different parts of the country.
