Tinubu Vows To Free Kidnap Victims, Defeat Terrorists, Bandits.

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending insecurity in Nigeria and securing the release of citizens being held captive by criminal groups across the country.

The President’s position was conveyed by George Akume during a national interdenominational church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

According to a statement released by the media aide to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yomi Odunuga, Tinubu assured Nigerians that the government would not surrender to terrorism, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation.

The President said the protection of lives and property remains one of the Federal Government’s major responsibilities, adding that recent attacks and kidnappings in different parts of the country show that security efforts must continue and be strengthened.

He stated that the rescue of all Nigerians still being held captive remains a national priority. Tinubu noted that security agencies and relevant institutions are receiving the support and resources needed to protect communities, safeguard lives and defend the country’s territorial integrity.

The President also acknowledged the challenges many Nigerians are facing, including insecurity, kidnappings, displacement and the rising cost of living. He assured citizens that his administration is working to reduce economic hardship and improve the delivery of democratic benefits to the people.

Tinubu said the government is aware of the difficulties being experienced by citizens and is taking steps to address them while pursuing policies aimed at improving living conditions across the country.

As preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 general elections, the President called on Nigerians to reject violence, hate speech and divisive politics. He urged political actors and citizens to protect democracy by promoting peace and unity rather than turning political competition into conflict.
