Toyin Lawani Raises Alarm Over Soaring Food Prices In Nigeria.

"News PlatformNG" reports that fashion entrepreneur and celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani has voiced concerns over the rising cost of food items in Nigeria, lamenting the growing burden on households struggling to meet their daily needs.

In a video shared online, Lawani questioned how many Nigerians are managing to cope with the current economic realities, particularly the sharp increase in the prices of basic food commodities.

Expressing her frustration, she cited the cost of common food items as evidence of the worsening situation. According to her, a small basket of Irish potatoes now sells for about N30,000, while four pieces of plantain cost approximately N2,500.

“How are people eating? How are people fending? Things are ridiculously expensive,” she said in the video.

The fashion entrepreneur also noted that the purchasing power of the naira has significantly declined, arguing that even large sums of money no longer stretch far when buying food and household necessities.

“You carry one million naira to market, it will buy you nothing,” she remarked.

Her comments have sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians echoing similar concerns about the increasing cost of living and the impact of inflation on food prices across the country.

The rising prices of essential goods continue to be a major concern for many households, as citizens grapple with economic challenges and reduced purchasing power amid ongoing inflationary pressures.
