Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises To 235, Over 4,300 Injured.

"News PlatformNG" reports that the death toll from the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 235, while more than 4,300 people have sustained injuries, according to the country's health authorities.

Speaking on the state television channel Venezolana de Televisión, Venezuelan Health Minister Carlos Alvarado confirmed that hospitals had received approximately 235 victims who either showed no signs of life upon arrival or died shortly after being admitted for treatment.

"Unfortunately, we received around 235 patients without vital signs, or they died after reaching our medical facilities," Alvarado said.

The minister added that medical personnel across the country have treated more than 4,300 injured people as emergency responders and rescue teams continue operations in the affected areas.

Authorities are still evaluating the full extent of the destruction caused by the disaster, warning that the number of casualties could increase as search and rescue efforts continue.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the two powerful earthquakes, which struck on Wednesday local time, registered magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has appealed for urgent international assistance, stating that Venezuela will require a large-scale, coordinated humanitarian response to recover from the devastating impact of the earthquakes.
