Senior Pastor Yemi David has urged Christian women to embrace modest dressing, particularly in church, warning against wearing overly tight or revealing outfits that expose private details.
Speaking during a church service, the pastor said: “We should not be seeing the lines of your panties. It’s not right. You check yourself before leaving your house.”
Expressing concern over some fashion choices, he added: “I’m appalled to see somebody come to church, everything is tight. The top is to your very waist and people at the back are seeing everything. It’s not okay.”
According to Pastor David, revealing clothing can send the wrong message and affect how others perceive a person.
“What you are willing to show makes it appear like what you are willing to share,” he said.
He further noted that dressing indecently could even influence a man’s perception of a woman when considering marriage.
“Sometimes, when a man sees a woman revealing everything, it might even affect him approaching you for marriage. It looks like a public thing because everybody in the public is seeing your pants.”
While acknowledging that men should exercise self-discipline, the pastor appealed to women not to make that responsibility more difficult.
“Men, discipline yourself. But please don’t destroy our discipline anointing. Don’t weaken us.”
He concluded by urging Christians to maintain modesty both in church and in everyday life. “If you are coming to church, dress decently.”
