Widow Of Nollywood Actor Mr Ibu Denies Allegations Over Property Sales.

A public dispute has emerged involving Stellamaris Okafor and her stepson, Somtochukwu, over claims relating to the sale of properties belonging to the late actor John "Mr Ibu" Okafor.

The disagreement follows a series of public statements in which Somtochukwu accused Stellamaris of mismanaging and secretly selling assets belonging to his late father, while the widow has strongly rejected the allegations.

Somtochukwu, Mr Ibu’s fourth child, released a video accusing Stellamaris of selling multiple properties located in Enugu, Asaba, and Lagos. He alleged that the proceeds were not shared with other family members and were instead kept by her and her biological children.

His claims came shortly after Stellamaris appeared in an interview with content creator King Mitchy Michelle, where she spoke about facing financial hardship and struggling to cover rent and school fees for her children.

In a follow-up interview with King Mitchy Michelle, Stellamaris rejected the accusations, stating that only a piece of land in the village was sold and that the decision involved consultation with other members of the late actor’s family.

She further explained that the proceeds—reportedly amounting to N17 million—were used entirely to cover funeral expenses for Mr Ibu.

According to her, “The land in Enugu State… we sold it for N17 million and used it for the burial. Go and ask the children.”

Stellamaris also addressed claims about earlier financial disagreements within the family, insisting that funds associated with the burial were intended for her children’s support.

The widow further stated that during her marriage to Mr Ibu, he did not inform her of any previous marriage or children from earlier relationships.

“My husband never told me that he was married before,” she said during the interview, adding that she became aware of other family members only later.

King Mitchy Michelle also disclosed that public donations totaling approximately N7.5 million had been contributed by supporters to assist the family’s welfare.

The late John "Mr Ibu" Okafor passed away on March 2, 2024, at a hospital in Lagos following cardiac arrest at the age of 62.
