Arise Drags APC To Court Over Ekiti North Primary Election.

Former Senator Ayo Arise has confirmed that he has taken legal action against the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Ekiti North Senatorial District, insisting that he emerged as the lawful winner of the exercise.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, Arise said he filed the lawsuit immediately after the primary election in line with the timelines provided in the Electoral Act, stressing that he was not surprised when his name was omitted from the party's list of candidates.

According to him, the court action is aimed at ensuring political parties obey their own rules and uphold democratic principles rather than serving personal interests.

Arise explained that he approached the court within the legally prescribed period to preserve his right to seek judicial redress, noting that waiting for further announcements from the party would have made any legal challenge statute-barred.

He alleged that several aspirants were misled into waiting for declarations from the APC national leadership despite provisions in the party's guidelines outlining how the primary process should be concluded.

The former senator accused the APC of failing to comply with its own guidelines during the conduct of the senatorial primary.

"I went ahead and filed my case in court because I knew what was coming. That is why I was not surprised at the outcome. This is not about me; it is about ensuring that we have a system that works for everybody," he said.

Arise further claimed that although he presented complaints and evidence during the party's appeal process, his name was still omitted, describing the decision as deliberate.

He maintained that he only approached the court over the primary election, insisting that the results announced at the appropriate level showed he won the contest.

Expressing confidence in the judiciary, Arise said he believes justice will prevail and that the court will restore his APC senatorial ticket if it finds that the party failed to follow its guidelines.
