Details Of How Abducted Pupils & Teachers Was Rescued In Oyo Forest.

The Presidency has provided additional details on the rescue operation that led to the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that eight suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation and are currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to Onanuga, several other members of the kidnapping gang were neutralised by security operatives during the rescue mission.

He also dismissed claims that the government made concessions to secure the victims' release, stating that no negotiations involving the release of detainees took place.

Onanuga explained that the suspected kingpin whose release the kidnappers had allegedly demanded remains in custody and is currently being prosecuted for offences related to terrorist activities.

"There was no quid pro quo in the rescue operation," he said, adding that the alleged terrorist leader was neither released nor granted any form of concession.

He further noted that the security agencies would provide a comprehensive account of the operation in due course.

The successful rescue operation has been described as part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and terrorism across the country.
