Dogara Denies Leaving APC Over Muslim/Muslim Ticket.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has denied reports that he plans to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of the party's Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election. He also declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima's bid for another term.

The denial was made public on Tuesday through a statement issued in Abuja by his spokesperson, Dr. Dominic Alancha, following growing reports that Dogara was preparing to leave the ruling party.

According to the statement, the reports are false and were created to mislead Nigerians and cause division within the APC. It stated that Dogara remains a loyal member of the party and has not resigned or made any move suggesting he intends to leave.

Alancha said those behind the reports were spreading false information to create confusion among party members and supporters. He maintained that Dogara has continued to stand with the APC and remains committed to its success.

The statement added that the former Speaker is already working with party leaders and members across the country as preparations for the 2027 elections continue. It said his focus is on helping the APC remain united and improve its chances of retaining power in the next general election.

It also stated that Dogara is fully behind the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima. According to the statement, he believes in working with the party to promote good governance, national unity and the country's continued development under the APC administration.

The statement dismissed claims that Dogara's position had changed because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, insisting that such reports have no basis and should not be taken seriously.

Alancha appealed to members of the public and media organisations to rely on verified information from official sources instead of unconfirmed political rumours. He also warned those spreading false claims to stop actions capable of causing unnecessary tension within the ruling party.

The clarification comes as political discussions ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather pace, with politicians and parties positioning themselves for the next electoral contest.
