The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 19 people, including 12 women and seven men, during a raid on a hotel in the Nassarawa Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Kano over alleged immoral activities.
The Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.According to the statement, the operation was carried out at a hotel identified as ICU Hotel, where the suspects were allegedly found engaging in activities considered to be in violation of the state's moral code.
Dr Aminuddeen disclosed that some of those arrested were not residents of Kano but had travelled from other states.
The Board also expressed concern over what it described as the allocation of hotel rooms to underage youths, describing the development as disturbing.
He said investigations were ongoing to determine the level of involvement of each suspect, after which appropriate legal action would be taken.
According to the Hisbah official, suspects found to have committed offences under the law would be prosecuted, while first-time offenders would be offered counselling. Their parents or guardians would also be invited to take custody of them following the counselling process.
The Kano State Hisbah Board said it remains committed to enforcing the state's moral and social regulations and urged residents to comply with the law.
