Peller Recounts Harsh Four-Day Ordeal In Police Custody After Arrest.

Popular Nigerian TikToker, Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, has spoken about his experience in police custody after his recent arrest by the Lagos State Police Command, claiming he spent four days in detention without food or access to a bath.

Peller and his friend, Bello Oladipo, were arrested on July 2nd, 2026, along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in Lekki for allegedly driving a vehicle without a registration plate number.

The situation reportedly escalated after Peller began filming the police officers during the encounter, leading to allegations of resistance and obstruction.

The duo were subsequently arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit a felony, resisting arrest, obstructing police officers—identified as ASP Agbede Victor and others—from carrying out their lawful duties, and allegedly threatening and filming the officers during the operation.

In a series of posts shared on Snapchat, Peller recounted the conditions he allegedly endured while in detention.

He said, “I spent four days in cell without access to food or a bath,” describing what he said was a difficult experience during his time in police custody.

According to reports, Peller and Oladipo pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court granted each of them bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with additional conditions, including the provision of valid tax clearance certificates.

The case has generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the relationship between content creators and law enforcement, particularly the legality of filming police officers during official duties and road traffic enforcement operations.

The matter remains before the court, and further developments are expected as legal proceedings continue.
