A Nigerian man, David Oyedeji Adediwura, has been identified as one of three people who died in a tragic road crash in the United Kingdom.
Adediwura lost his life following a collision involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a grey BMW 840i on Cory Wright Way in Wheathampstead at about 9:38pm on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.According to Hertfordshire Police, three men travelling in the Vauxhall Astra, aged in their 30s, 40s and 50s, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Adediwura's former colleague at Yodel and DHL, Iretiayo Oyewole, to support his grieving family.
The fundraiser aims to raise £10,000 to assist his wife and three children during what has been described as an incredibly difficult period. The funds will help cover funeral and burial expenses, transportation costs, immediate financial support for the family, and other expenses associated with laying him to rest.
Describing Adediwura's death as sudden and heartbreaking, Oyewole paid tribute to him as a dedicated worker, compassionate colleague and respected member of the community.
"David's death was sudden, heartbreaking, and completely unexpected. News of the tragedy has left his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew him struggling to come to terms with an unimaginable loss," the fundraiser stated.
Oyewole said Adediwura would be remembered for his kindness, generosity, strong work ethic and willingness to support others.
"David was more than a colleague. He was a valued member of our community whose presence, kindness, and contributions touched the lives of those around him. He will be remembered for his warm personality, generosity, dedication to his work, and willingness to support others," he added.
He noted that the fundraising campaign is being organised with the knowledge and consent of Adediwura's family and appealed to members of the public to support the initiative through donations or by sharing the appeal.
Meanwhile, Adediwura's widow, Modinat Adebayo, has shared an emotional tribute, describing 22 July 2026 as the darkest day of her life.
She said the couple had relocated from Nigeria to the UK in pursuit of a better future for their family, but those dreams were cut short by the fatal crash.
"The 22nd of July, 2026, became the darkest day of my life. You left home in search of a better future for our family, never knowing it would be your final journey. A tragic accident took you away from us, and our lives changed forever," she wrote.
Adebayo described her late husband as her best friend, confidant, prayer partner and greatest supporter, adding that he worked tirelessly to provide for their family.
Recalling their final conversation before his death, she said she never imagined it would be the last time she would hear his voice.
"The last conversation we had on Wednesday night will forever remain in my heart. I never imagined those would be the last words I would ever hear from you. You left without saying goodbye. Your absence has left a pain that words cannot describe," she added.
