A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Okebaram Stanley Chimaroke, has reportedly been found dead after he was declared missing.
Chimaroke, a Civil Engineering graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede and former President of the institution's Student Union Government (SUG), was reportedly serving in Nembe Creek before his disappearance.
According to information circulating among his colleagues and associates, his lifeless body was allegedly recovered from a body of water in the area.
The Bayelsa State Police Command had earlier launched a search operation following reports of his disappearance.
Police sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the case was reported at about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, by Aribisola Bisi Isaac, a fellow corps member serving in Nembe, who was accompanied by Adeola Marvelous.
According to the report, the Local Government Inspector informed them that the 27-year-old corps member, who had been posted to serve in Nembe Creek, was last seen at about 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24.
Repeated attempts to contact Chimaroke through his mobile phone numbers reportedly proved unsuccessful, raising concerns about his whereabouts.
Following the report, police operatives were deployed to the creek community, which is located about 45 minutes by boat from the Nembe Divisional Headquarters, to commence search and investigation efforts.
Authorities had been working to locate the missing corps member and determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the Bayelsa State Police Command had yet to officially confirm the reported recovery of Chimaroke's body or establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
