In a statement, the La Liga giants confirmed that the 30-year-old defender will remain at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2030.
“We have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Denzel Dumfries, who will be with our club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030,” the club said.
Although Real Madrid did not disclose the transfer fee, multiple reports indicate that the club activated the defender's €20 million release clause to secure his services.
Dumfries arrives in Madrid after a successful four-year spell with Inter Milan, whom he joined from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2021.
During his time with the Italian club, the attack-minded right-back made 207 appearances, scoring 27 goals and providing 28 assists.
He also enjoyed considerable success with the Nerazzurri, helping the club win two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies, while finishing as runners-up in the UEFA Champions League on two occasions.
On the international stage, Dumfries represented the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Dutch exited the tournament after a penalty shootout defeat to Morocco in the Round of 32.
The experienced defender becomes Real Madrid's fourth signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté.
Madrid are rebuilding their squad under new manager José Mourinho after ending each of the last two seasons without winning a major trophy.
The club has also strengthened its defensive options by extending Antonio Rüdiger's contract until 2027, while long-serving defenders Dani Carvajal and David Alaba departed at the end of last season.
With Dumfries' arrival, Real Madrid add another experienced option at right-back as they prepare for the new campaign across domestic and European competitions.
