SDP Rejects APC Endorsement Claim In Osun.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed reports claiming that its Osun State chapter has dissolved its structure to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The party insisted that it remains united and has not endorsed any political party or candidate.

The denial came on Wednesday after reports emerged that a factional chairman of the SDP in Osun, Remi Omidire, allegedly wrote a letter to the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, declaring support for Oyebamiji.

Reacting to the development in a statement issued in Lagos, the Chairman of SDP State Chairmen in Nigeria, Femi Olaniyi, also known as Ferrari, described the letter as fake. He said it did not come from the recognised leadership of the party in Osun, which is headed by Funsho Fabiyi.

Olaniyi said those behind the document were trying to mislead the public by creating the impression that the SDP had abandoned its plans for the election.

He maintained that the party had not entered into any agreement with the APC or its governorship candidate and had no intention of withdrawing from the race.

He stated that the Osun chapter of the SDP remains fully active and is preparing to participate in the governorship election with its own structure intact.

Olaniyi also warned those spreading what he described as false information to stop, saying anyone found responsible could face legal action.

He added that the party remains committed to pursuing its political goals through the democratic process and urged members and supporters not to pay attention to the reports, insisting that the SDP is focused on its campaign ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
