The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
According to the police, the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, after an altercation reportedly broke out between the suspect and the deceased, identified as Moh’d Musa.
Habib said preliminary investigations revealed that Abdullahi allegedly brought out a knife during the fight and stabbed Musa.
“The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on 22nd August, 2026 at about 2300hrs, a report of culpable homicide was received from Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis,” the statement read.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.
Police operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division Township reportedly responded swiftly to the incident, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
The police said the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue. The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that a thorough investigation be conducted to ensure justice is served.
He also urged members of the public to shun violence and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
