The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, has led a delegation of the Commission on a condolence visit to the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Traditional Council and Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Justice Muhammad Sidi Bage I, following the death of his brother, Alhaji Ahmed Bage, Esq.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Tsenyil said the
delegation was at the palace to commiserate with the Emir, the entire family,
and the Nasarawa State Traditional Council over the loss of their beloved
brother and father.
He said the visit was undertaken on behalf of the
Governing Board and Management, and described the passing of Alhaji Ahmed Bage
as a great loss to the family, Nasarawa State and the Commission.
According to him, the deceased was alive during the
establishment and take-off of the North Central Development Commission, and was
one of the voices of reason on whom the Commission could rely for wise counsel
and guidance.
Dr. Tsenyil prayed for the repose of the soul of the
deceased and for the Almighty Allah to grant the family and all those he left
behind the fortitude to bear the loss. He added that death is inevitable and
that no one can question the will of the Almighty.
The NCDC Managing Director presented a formal
condolence letter to the Emir on behalf of the Board and Management of the
Commission.
Responding, HRH Justice Muhammad Sidi Bage I,
expressed appreciation to the NCDC delegation for the visit. He commended the
management for finding time, despite their busy schedules, to condole with the
family.
The Emir also commended Dr. Tsenyil, the Management
and the Governing Board for their efforts in laying a solid foundation for the
Commission. He noted that they are carrying out a national assignment of great
importance that will change the fortunes of the people of the North Central
region for good.
The traditional ruler called on Nigerians to continue
praying for the country and its leaders. He urged Almighty Allah to guide the
government and grant it the wisdom and capacity to find lasting solutions to
the challenges confronting the nation.
He expressed optimism that with purposeful leadership,
collective prayers and commitment, Nigeria would overcome its challenges and
achieve sustainable development.
Others on the delegation included the Executive
Director, Corporate Services, Mr. James Abel Uloko; the Executive Director,
Commercial and Industrial Development, Hajia Aisha Rufia Ibrahim; and other
staff of the Commission.
