The development was disclosed on Wednesday by Olayinka Fafoluyi, media aide to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a post on Facebook.
“Alhamdulillaah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!” Fafoluyi wrote.
The victims were abducted on February 3 after armed assailants launched coordinated attacks on Woro, Nuku and other surrounding communities in Kaiama LGA.
The attacks reportedly claimed the lives of at least 75 people, displaced residents and left several communities severely affected.
While the exact number of people abducted remains unclear, reports had estimated that about 170 women, children and other residents were taken into captivity.
In April, a video circulated on social media showing one of the abducted women appealing to the Kwara State Government to intensify efforts to secure their release.
Speaking from captivity alongside other victims, the woman said the group included pregnant women, children and sick persons and urged the authorities to intervene urgently.
“We are from Woro in Kaiama Local Government. We were taken on February 3, and today is April 8. This is the last opportunity they have given us,” she said.
However, details surrounding the release of the abductees were not immediately available. It remains unclear whether any ransom was paid or what led to their eventual freedom.
Efforts to obtain further information from the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, were unsuccessful as calls to his telephone line went unanswered.
