Okoye, who is the partner of actress Iyabo Ojo, had raised concerns over the cost of booking top Nigerian Afrobeats artistes, asking whether the genre was “dead or in coma”.
His comments drew a response from Nigerian music executive and Grammy-nominated artiste Bankulli, who disagreed with Okoye’s assessment.
Bankulli suggested that Okoye’s comments were influenced by his inability to afford the fees charged by some of the country’s biggest artistes.
Davido subsequently joined the exchange in the comments section, where he appeared to support Bankulli’s position.
The singer tagged Okoye and wrote: “PAUL O AKA PAUL BROKE.”
Davido’s remark comes nearly two years after Okoye publicly defended the singer following criticism of his comments about the Nigerian economy.
Davido had previously described the Nigerian economy as being “in shambles” during an appearance on The Big Homies House podcast, prompting criticism from some quarters. Okoye subsequently spoke in the singer’s defence.
Okoye’s relationship with actress Iyabo Ojo was publicly confirmed by the actress during her 45th birthday celebrations in December 2022.
