DSS Arrests Kogi Man For Impersonation & Extorting Motorists In Abuja.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man from Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State for allegedly impersonating a personnel of the Service and extorting motorists and commuters in Abuja.

The suspect, identified as Moferewa Maiye and said to be from Agbajojun Village in Mopamuro, was arrested after DSS operatives tracked him to his hideout around NITEL Junction, along Adetokunbo Ademola Way, Wuse II.

Maiye was reportedly arrested wearing a DSS tactical uniform and in possession of a fake pistol.

A security source said the Service acted on credible intelligence that the suspect had been using the uniform and imitation firearm to intimidate motorists and commuters and extort money from them.

During interrogation, Maiye allegedly told investigators that the uniform belonged to his late brother, Monday Maiye, whom he claimed was a former DSS personnel who died several years ago.

The suspect is currently being interrogated while investigators probe how he obtained the DSS uniform and other tactical equipment.

The Service is also working to establish how long the suspect had allegedly been involved in impersonation and extortion.

The arrest, the source said, highlights the DSS’ growing concern over individuals who impersonate security personnel to intimidate members of the public and facilitate criminal activities.
