CAN made the appeal in its Eid-el-Maulud message, signed by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, to mark this year’s celebration.
The association said Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad, offers an opportunity to reflect on values such as mercy, justice, compassion, honesty and peaceful coexistence.
According to CAN, these values are particularly important at a time when Nigerians are facing economic hardship, insecurity and growing social tensions.
The association noted that many Nigerians are struggling with rising living costs and worsening insecurity, urging leaders at all levels of government to move beyond promises and take concrete steps to improve the lives of citizens.
“People are tired of promises; they want to see their lives improve,” the statement said.
CAN called on the Federal Government and other political leaders to prioritise security, economic relief and the welfare of Nigerians.
As the country prepares for the 2027 elections, the Christian body also cautioned politicians against exploiting religion or ethnicity for political advantage.
CAN stressed that elections would come and go, but the unity and relationships binding Nigerians together must be protected.
It urged Christians and Muslims to reject efforts by individuals seeking political gain from their differences and instead work together to promote peace, protect vulnerable members of society and strengthen their communities.
The association expressed hope for Nigeria’s future but maintained that meaningful progress must be supported by responsible leadership, justice, good citizenship and concrete action.
