German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian champions Club Brugge. The 25-year-old Nigerian international has signed a contract with Frankfurt until 30 June 2031, with the transfer fee reportedly valued at around €10 million (more than N15 billion).
“Eintracht Frankfurt and Club Brugge have reached an agreement for the transfer of Raphael Onyedika. The Nigerian international will receive a contract until 30 June 2031 and will wear the number 25 jersey,” the German club announced.
Following the completion of the deal, Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche explained the qualities that attracted the club to the defensive midfielder.
“Raphael Onyedika impresses us not only with his robustness and strategic understanding of the game, but above all with his exceptional consistency. He has been a regular starter for several years and has celebrated numerous titles in Belgium,” Krösche said.
He added that Onyedika’s international experience and potential for further development made him an important addition to Frankfurt’s squad.
“Furthermore, he possesses valuable international experience. At 25 years old, he still has great potential for development and is also an important building block for the structure of our squad,” he added.
Onyedika arrives in Germany with significant European experience, having made 268 senior appearances, including 24 UEFA Champions League outings over the past three seasons.
During his time with Club Brugge, the midfielder won two Belgian league titles, as well as the Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup. He also previously lifted the Danish Cup with FC Midtjylland, his first club outside Nigeria.
The move marks another major step in Onyedika’s career as he joins one of Germany’s established Bundesliga sides ahead of the new season.
