Ahmed Ajibola, the former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, has explained why he resigned from the group, saying his decision was driven by personal principles and disagreements over the direction of its structure in the state.
Ajibola, also known as General H, said his resignation should not be seen as a withdrawal of his support for President Bola Tinubu or the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He stated that he remains committed to the President despite leaving the movement.
He made the clarification in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Friday after social media reports claimed he had been removed as the movement's Oyo coordinator and had spoken against the President, Seyi Tinubu and other leaders of the organisation.
The former coordinator dismissed the reports as untrue, insisting that he was never suspended, removed or dismissed from office. According to him, he voluntarily stepped down from his position.
Ajibola disclosed that he was appointed as Coordinator of Directorate Affairs for Oyo State on August 1, 2026.
A few days later, on August 5, the national leadership also offered him the role of Coordinator for Stakeholder Engagement in the South-West structure.
He said he rejected both appointments before submitting his resignation letter to the leadership of the movement.
Ajibola argued that if he had been removed from office as claimed, there would have been an official dismissal or termination letter, which he said does not exist because no such action was taken against him.
In his resignation letter, he thanked the leadership for the opportunity to serve but said he could not continue because of his convictions. He explained that his decision was not driven by anger but by his belief that leadership should reflect fairness, loyalty, transparency, competence and mutual respect.
He added that recent developments within the Oyo State chapter, especially under its new leadership, made it impossible for him to remain in the movement.
Ajibola also expressed disappointment with the direction the organisation had taken in the state, saying some actions and decisions no longer reflected the values that attracted many members to support and build the movement.
Despite leaving the group, he maintained that his resignation does not amount to opposition to President Tinubu or his administration, stressing that his support for the government's agenda remains unchanged.
