Fayose Compares Atiku To Biden, Questions Amaechi’s Political Strength In Rivers.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is too old to contest another election.

Fayose made the comment during an appearance on TVC’s Politics Tonight programme on Tuesday night, August 18, where he compared the former vice-president to former United States President Joe Biden.

According to Fayose, although Atiku remains a “good man”, his age could work against his chances in the 2027 presidential election.

“Atiku is now really old. He’s a good man, but time has caught up with him. Atiku contesting an election is like calling Biden to come and contest again,” Fayose said.

The former governor also stated that the 2027 election would likely be the final opportunity for Atiku, President Bola Tinubu and Labour Party’s Peter Obi to contest for the presidency.

“Let me say this again: President Bola Tinubu, Atiku and Peter Obi, this is their last chance of contesting an election. The three of them,” he said.

Fayose also questioned the political strength of Atiku’s running mate, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, particularly in the South-South region.

He claimed Amaechi would struggle to secure significant support in Rivers State, while also arguing that the ADC and other political groups associated with the emerging opposition coalition were yet to establish a strong grassroots presence.

“In Rivers State, during this election, Amaechi will have very little support. Even the party is not together. Most of these ADC and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, members are not on ground. Nobody is connected to those parties yet,” Fayose said.

Atiku is expected to face President Tinubu and other opposition candidates in the 2027 presidential election as political parties continue to mobilise ahead of the polls.
