‘Grow A Thick Skin’ — Timi Dakolo Speaks On Fake News & Life In The Spotlight.

Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has opened up about how an innocent act of kindness at an event allegedly led to false rumours that he had a secret love child.

The singer shared the experience in a post on Instagram while advising people who desire fame to develop a “thick skin” to deal with the realities of life in the public eye.

According to Dakolo, he was attending an event when a little girl refused to return to her mother after he carried her. He said he eventually took care of the child throughout the evening.

However, he was surprised to later see claims online suggesting that the girl was his secret child.

Sharing his thoughts on fame and public scrutiny, Dakolo wrote:

“Grow a thick skin if you desire fame. You will definitely need it. You can go to bed a happy fellow and wake up with news of you in some mess. And because you are famous, the odds are already against you.

“So people are always looking for who to drown. Being in the spotlight makes you an obvious target. Grow a thick skin because being famous is a whole lot.”

Explaining the incident that prompted his post, the singer added:

“I carried a little girl at an event, she just wouldn't go back to her mum. So I parented her all evening. Next thing I saw online, Timi and his love child are inseparable. This space is a mad house.”

Dakolo's post highlights the challenges faced by celebrities, who often find themselves at the centre of speculation and false reports over ordinary moments in their personal lives.
