Gunmen Abduct Businessman After Evening Prayers At Abuja Mosque.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a businessman, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed Keche, shortly after he observed Isha’i prayers at a mosque in Dabi Bako, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night as Keche was returning home from a mosque close to his residence.

A resident of the community, Ibrahim Suleiman, said the gunmen arrived in a tinted, unmarked vehicle and carried out the operation shortly after the victim left the mosque.

According to him, the suspects, who were armed with AK-47 rifles, forced Keche into their vehicle and sped away amid sporadic gunshots.

Suleiman alleged that two members of the gang had positioned themselves around the mosque before the other suspects emerged from the vehicle to carry out the abduction.

He said the manner in which the operation was executed suggested that the victim's movements may have been closely monitored.

Another resident, who requested anonymity, said he locked himself inside his shop after hearing gunshots in the area.

The resident said he had earlier noticed a motorcycle rider moving suspiciously around the mosque before the incident, raising suspicions that the person may have been monitoring activities in the area.

The abducted businessman is said to be involved in land business and politics.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said she was not aware of the incident at the time but promised to make enquiries from the Kwali Police Division.

Further details regarding the whereabouts of the victim and efforts to rescue him were not immediately available.
