According to the Command, one of the victims is yet to be identified, while the second has been identified as Isaac Nwosu, also known as “Azia”.
Police operatives recovered N7,550 in cash, a Moniepoint ATM card and a pair of slippers from the scenes of the incidents.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, condemned the killings, describing them as “unacceptable” and a direct threat to the peace and security of the state.
He subsequently directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation.
The Police Command said security operatives have also intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations across Awka and neighbouring areas as efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The Command appealed to community leaders, residents, motorists, business owners and other members of the public who may have witnessed the incidents or possess credible information about the suspects, their movements or the vehicle allegedly used in the attacks to contact the police.
The police assured members of the public that information provided would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
The Anambra State Police Command also stressed the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime, urging residents to provide timely information that could help investigators apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
