The incident was reported at about 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, after residents discovered the remains and alerted the authorities.
Following the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Maigatari Division led a team of police operatives to the scene.
A police source said officers conducted a search of the surrounding area and subsequently recovered the severed head of the victim.
The victim was reportedly found without any means of identification, while the remains had already begun decomposing.
The body was evacuated from the scene and deposited at a hospital for further examination as detectives commenced efforts to establish the victim’s identity.
Police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the gruesome act.
The command said the case remains under investigation, with further updates expected as detectives make progress.
