Atiku made the claim during an interview with the BBC while responding to questions about his repeated presidential ambitions and the issue of age in political leadership.
The former Vice President defended his decision to contest the presidency again, arguing that his physical fitness, experience, competence and patriotism qualify him to serve as Nigeria’s president.
He also maintained that seeking the presidency was his constitutional right.
“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick, and I am healthy and strong. So why won't I make myself available to serve my country?” Atiku said.
“You went and voted for someone who is 90 years old. I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court.”
Atiku’s claim about Tinubu’s age has not been independently established in the information available in the interview.
The ADC candidate also addressed Nigeria’s worsening security situation, blaming the challenges on what he described as government irresponsibility, particularly in defence funding and the ratio of police personnel to the population.
He promised that, if elected in 2027, his administration would take decisive steps to tackle the country’s security challenges.
Atiku pledged to bring Nigeria’s security crisis under control within one year of assuming office.
