IED Explodes On Dikwa–Marte Road As Troops Discover Device On Abandoned Vehicle.

An Improvised Explosive Device has exploded along the Dikwa–Marte road in Borno State, with troops later discovering the remains of the explosive attached to an abandoned vehicle near a bridge.

The incident occurred at about 7:20pm on Sunday, August 24, 2026, along the Dikwa–Marte Main Supply Route, where troops of the 50 Task Force Battalion under Operation Hadin Kai were carrying out operations.

The troops reportedly returned to the area during a route-scanning patrol on Monday morning and found the remains of the detonated device at about 10:30am.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the IED had been primed on the remains of an abandoned vehicle positioned close to a bridge along the road.

The discovery raised concerns over the safety of troops and other road users who regularly use the route, which serves as an important supply corridor in the area.

The troops immediately secured the location and began security measures to prevent another explosive threat from affecting movement along the road.

The latest incident comes amid continued security operations in parts of Borno State, where troops have been working to counter attacks and other threats linked to insurgent groups.
