Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has inaugurated the African Democratic Congress, ADC, campaign council in Kebbi State, with Rt. Hon. Sani Tadurga named as the Director-General of the campaign team.
The inauguration was held on Wednesday as the party began preparations for the 2027 elections. More than 600 members were unveiled as part of the campaign council, with representatives drawn from different local government areas, senatorial districts, communities and political backgrounds across Kebbi State.
Tadurga, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, will coordinate the campaign activities of the ADC in the state and work with other members of the council to mobilise support for the party's candidates.
Speaking at the event, Malami said the new campaign structure was designed to bring the party's candidates and supporters under one coordinated platform.
“This Campaign Council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position. From the governorship to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, we must work as one political family,” Malami said.
He urged members of the council to avoid tribalism, sectional interests and internal rivalry, warning that such divisions could weaken the party's campaign.
Malami said every part of Kebbi State should be included in the political movement, adding that no tribe, senatorial district, local government, ward or community should feel left out.
He also called on party leaders to work towards reconciliation whenever disagreements arise among members.
“Where there are disagreements, let us reconcile. Where there are grievances, let us listen. Where there is suspicion, let us rebuild trust. Our diversity must become our strength,” he said.
The former minister said the ADC should operate under a coordinated campaign system rather than having different groups working against one another.
He described the approach as “One ADC, One Campaign” and urged members to support candidates contesting the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
Malami also recognised the party's senatorial candidates, including General Aminu Bande for Kebbi Central, Garba Maidoki for Kebbi South and Chiroman Kabi, Alhaji Mera, for Kebbi North.
He said campaign officials must treat their appointments as responsibilities and not as rewards or positions meant to give them status.
According to him, their duties include mobilising people, engaging residents, resolving disagreements and taking the party's message to communities across the state.
Malami further urged members to maintain discipline during the campaign and avoid ethnic insults, hate speech and personal attacks against political opponents.
He reminded supporters that political contests would end after the elections, while residents would continue to live together and maintain relationships in their communities.
“After the elections, we will still worship together, attend the same markets, celebrate together, mourn together and raise our children together. No political ambition is worth destroying those bonds,” Malami said.
He urged the campaign council to focus on grassroots mobilisation and ensure that the ADC has a presence across local government areas, wards, communities and polling units.
The former minister said the success of individual candidates should be viewed as a collective victory for the party, urging members to work together rather than pursue separate political interests.
“Different candidates, one ADC. Different communities, one Kebbi State. Different responsibilities, one common purpose,” he said.
Malami described the inauguration as the beginning of a fresh phase of political mobilisation in Kebbi State and called on Tadurga and other members of the council to begin work in their respective areas.
He also urged ADC supporters to put aside personal differences and work towards building a united political movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Today is not a reward for work completed. Today is the beginning of the work. Let us arise above our differences. Let us arise above tribalism and sectionalism. Let us arise together in service to our people. And together, let us make Kebbi State shine. Arise and Shine!” he said.
