NFF Secretariat Gets New Interim Leadership As Sports Commission Halts Elective Congress.

Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme has been appointed to oversee the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as Interim General Secretary following the resignation of key officials, including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

The appointment forms part of an interim arrangement aimed at ensuring continuity within the federation as authorities begin a broader restructuring process.

Dr Ademola Olajire, who previously served as the NFF’s Director of Media and Communications, has also been appointed Interim Deputy General Secretary.

Meanwhile, the National Sports Commission has suspended all activities relating to the NFF Elective Congress earlier scheduled to hold on September 27.

According to the directive, a new timetable for the electoral process will be announced after comprehensive reforms have been developed in consultation with FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The commission also directed administrators across Nigeria’s major football leagues, including the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), to hand over the management of their respective leagues to their Chief Operating Officers.

The move is expected to ensure operational stability and continuity across the country’s football competitions during the transition period.
