NYSC Delays Camp Opening In Sokoto, Niger.

The National Youth Service Corps has postponed the opening of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation camps in Sokoto and Niger states because renovation work at both facilities has not been completed.

The announcement was made on Friday in a statement issued by the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, and shared on the scheme’s official X account.

The management said the extension became necessary as the two state governments continue rehabilitation work at their orientation camps.

With the new timetable, the orientation exercise will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony and cut-off date have been scheduled for Friday, August 14, while the orientation course will end on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The NYSC urged all prospective corps members posted to Sokoto and Niger states to adjust their travel plans to match the revised dates. It also advised them to avoid travelling at night while heading to their orientation camps for safety reasons.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also wished the prospective corps members safe journeys as arrangements continue for the commencement of the orientation exercise in the affected states.
