The family of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has denied reports claiming that his daughter, Shakirat Taiwo, also known as Kira, recently welcomed a baby boy.
The clarification came on Wednesday after a video and reports circulated online claiming that Kira had given birth shortly after her father’s burial. The reports attracted attention because of the timing, with some social media users linking the alleged birth to the family’s recent loss.
Haleemah Taiwo, another daughter of the late actor, addressed the reports through a post on Instagram. She explained that the information about her sister giving birth was false and said the family had been receiving calls and messages from relatives and friends seeking clarification.
She also appealed to members of the public to stop spreading information about the family without confirming whether it was genuine.
The viral material reportedly included a short video of a newborn and presented the child as a new addition to Ogogo’s family. The claims quickly spread online, leading some people to believe that Kira had welcomed her first child only days after the death and burial of her father.
The family has now made it clear that no such birth took place, asking the public to disregard the reports and avoid sharing the unverified material.
The clarification comes at a sensitive period for the family following the death of Ogogo, one of the well-known figures in Yoruba-language cinema.
The veteran actor and screenwriter died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after reportedly battling stage-four cancer. His death was followed by tributes from colleagues, friends, fans and other members of the entertainment industry.
Ogogo was buried the following day in Ilaro, Ogun State, in line with Islamic burial traditions. Members of his family and other mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the actor, whose career spanned several decades in the Nigerian film industry.
The family has since asked for privacy as they continue to deal with his death. The latest clarification was also aimed at stopping further circulation of the false report concerning Kira and the alleged newborn.
Members of the public have therefore been urged to rely on information from the family before accepting or sharing reports concerning the private affairs of the late actor’s children.
