The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Solomon Onaola, over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
According to Jimoh, the matter was initially reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Gender-Based Offences Unit for further investigation because of the sensitive nature of the allegation.
He said preliminary investigations showed that the victim’s guardian reported the incident to the police on August 2, 2026.
The teenager, who worked as a domestic help, had reportedly left her guardian’s residence without permission on several occasions.
According to the police, when questioned about her movements, the girl allegedly disclosed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her.
“Following the report, police operatives commenced investigation and subsequently arrested the suspect,” the statement said.
The police said the victim has been placed under appropriate care while relevant procedures are being followed in line with established protocols for handling alleged sexual offences involving minors.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender-Based Offences Unit to conduct a thorough and professional investigation to establish the facts of the case and ensure that justice is served.
Ohagwu also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society from sexual exploitation, abuse and other forms of violence.
The command urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the welfare and activities of children under their care.
