One Killed As Gunmen Allegedly Target Davido In Attack On Adeleke’s Convoy.

The Osun State Police Command has said Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, was the alleged target of an attack on the convoy of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 19, shortly after the governor received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and visited the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo.

Davido and the governor’s children were reportedly in the convoy when unidentified men opened fire, leading to a gun duel between the suspected attackers and the governor’s security personnel.

Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said preliminary investigations indicated that members of the Eye Confraternity were allegedly attempting to gain access to Davido.

According to him, a suspected cult member and alleged notorious thug identified as Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged”, attempted to approach Davido but was stopped by members of the singer’s security team.

“The ensuing confrontation reportedly attracted other suspected gang members in the vicinity, who temporarily blocked the entrance to the palace and obstructed the movement of the convoy of the Governor,” Ojelabi said.

The police spokesperson said the suspected gang members later left the area but allegedly shot a 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, at Itaolokan area of Osogbo.

Police officers were subsequently deployed to the scene, where Yusuf was found critically injured and rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

However, doctors on duty reportedly pronounced him dead on arrival.

The police command said it has commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident and intensified efforts to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The command also assured the public that all those found responsible for the incident would be brought to justice.
