Osun APC Senator Fadahunsi Honours Police Invitation Over ‘Kill Accord Members’ Remark.

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, on Wednesday appeared before the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo over a controversial statement attributed to him concerning members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Fadahunsi arrived at the police headquarters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, at about 2pm after being invited by the command to explain the circumstances surrounding the statement.

The invitation followed the circulation of a video in which the senator was reportedly heard calling on supporters of the All Progressives Congress to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party if they came across them during the electoral process in some parts of the state.

The video has sparked reactions across the state as political activities intensify ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The police invited the senator as part of efforts to establish what led to the alleged statement and determine whether it amounted to a violation of electoral or criminal laws.

His appearance before the command comes amid increased security preparations across Osun ahead of the election.

Security agencies have warned politicians, party supporters and other stakeholders against making inflammatory comments or engaging in activities capable of causing violence before, during and after the poll.

The police have also urged political actors to conduct themselves peacefully and allow voters to exercise their rights without intimidation or threats.

Fadahunsi’s appearance is expected to form part of the police investigation into the controversial video and help the command determine its next course of action.
