Ibrahim, who represents the Irewole/Isokan Constituency on the platform of the Accord Party, was confronted by armed police officers at the residence in the early hours of election day as voting commenced across the state.
A video circulating on social media showed the lawmaker responding to questions from the security personnel, while the people found at the premises were seen sitting on the floor.
Ibrahim identified the property as the residence of his late father, Raji Ibrahim.
When asked why a large number of people were gathered at the property on election day, the lawmaker told the officers that they were voters who had come to participate in the election.
“They are voters for the election happening today,” Ibrahim said.
The officers subsequently sought clarification on whether those gathered were registered voters from Ikire.
In response, Ibrahim acknowledged that the group included people from both within and outside the community.
“Some of them are, some of them are indigenes from outside. I did not hire them. I did not promise anything,” he explained.
The security operatives also questioned the political affiliations of those at the residence and whether Ibrahim had mobilised them in support of a particular candidate.
The lawmaker maintained that the individuals were free to make their own voting decisions.
“Voting is their choice. I’m not their agent,” he said, while confirming his membership of the Accord Party.
The footage also showed security personnel holding Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), which Ibrahim said belonged to the individuals gathered at the residence.
The incident occurred amid heightened security operations across Osun State during the governorship election, with the Nigeria Police Force deploying senior officers and warning against electoral malpractice, voter inducement and unlawful mobilisation.
The circumstances surrounding the gathering and the identities and purpose of those present are expected to form part of the security authorities’ inquiries.
